BACKGROUND

The Student Programme was launched at Russia Power 2009 by PennWell Corporation together with the International Association for Corporate Education (MAKO) and sponsored by Ansaldo Energia and Siemens. The program enabled over 70 senior-year engineering and science students from more than 20 educational institutions throughout Russia to get to know the companies working in the sector better, expand their knowledge of the industry and explore career opportunities in the power sector. The participants were given an opportunity to attend the conference sessions and exhibition as complementary delegates and to participate in a special matchmaking session with a number of companies, including, Ansaldo Energia, Siemens, RusHydro, OGK-1, CIPK Atomenergoprom and InterRAO.

The primary goal of Russia Power’s first Student Program is to help raise the attractiveness of the energy sector profession, bring new blood to the Russian power industry, and contribute to investing in the future of the Russian economy.

For 2010 the student programme will continue to address the needs of the Russian power sector with a fresh selection of final year engineering and science students and post graduates eager to interface with the major players in the power industry.
